Dr. Larry Stewart, Jr. joined Houston Healthcare as the Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in May 2017. He has served as President of the Board of Managers for Cornerstone Medical Association, and was a former Houston Hospitals Board Member. He brings extensive knowledge to the position from having served on countless committees at both HHC hospital facilities and throughout the community.
Dr. Stewart earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1979 and established his Pediatric practice in Perry over 30 years ago. He served in the USAF (1982-1986) as Staff Pediatrician and then Chief of Pediatrics. He held a teaching staff position with the Medical Center of Central Georgia and helped develop the curriculum for the Pediatric Residency Program at MCCG with Dr. Guzzardo. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the Medical Association of Georgia, and the Georgia Chapter of the AAP.
Dr. Stewart is a respected member of his community and Elder of the Vine Church of Houston County. He is an avid sports fan and has served on the Dixie Softball National Board as the Director for State of Georgia since 2004. He has also been a volunteer for a drug and alcohol support group held by First Baptist Church of Perry since 2003.
