Our cardiovascular services are designed to provide diagnostic, therapeutic
and supportive care to patients with heart, vascular, circulatory and
breathing-related challenges. Our specialists and surgeons perform procedures
to repair damage caused by cardiovascular diseases that are often first
diagnosed by a primary care doctor who refers the patient to a heart specialist
called a cardiovascular surgeon.
We diagnose and treat heart disease utilizing the latest technology. We
perform the following heart procedures at Emory Hospital Warner Robins:
Left and right heart catheterization: These procedures check for blockages in the heart and check how well the
heart is working. Other procedures may be performed at the same time.
Pacemaker: This small device is placed in the chest to help control arrhythmias (abnormal
heart rhythms).
Defibrillator: This small device delivers electrical charges to the heart through the
chest or abdomen to control irregular heart rhythms or restart the heart.
Loop recorder: The patient wears the loop recorder to record heart rhythms and any abnormal
episodes, so the doctor can see what is happening when you feel weak,
dizzy, or experience chest fluttering.
Peripheral angiogram: This procedure involves checking the blood flow in the legs to see if there
is a blockage. If a blockage is found, a small metal stent is placed to
restore optimal blood flow.
Electrophysiology (EP) studies: Your doctor will check how the heart beats by accessing different arteries
with guide wires and X-rays to measure heart rhythm.
Echocardiogram: This procedure produces images of your heart so your doctor can check
for abnormalities in the muscle or heart valves.
Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE): This test identifies signs of a stroke by checking blood flow through
the heart and heart valves.
Stress test: This test checks for heart disease using exercise or medication to determine
whether a blockage is present. You will either walk on a treadmill while
your doctor monitors your heart rhythm or be given medication to mimic
exercise while the doctor monitors your heart rhythm.
