Jefferson U. Davis, D.D.S., M.D. has been named Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer for Houston Healthcare.
Dr. Davis earned his M.D. degree from Duke University School of Medicine, a D.D.S. degree from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, and a B.S. degree from Wake Forest University. He completed residencies in both general surgery and plastic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and served as Chief Resident of pediatric plastic surgery at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. In addition, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in craniofacial embryology and developmental biology at the University of Southern California.
As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Davis will provide medical administrative oversight of the quality and risk management functions of Houston Healthcare, the Family Medicine Residency, act as a liaison between the medical staff and administration when needed, work collaboratively to ensure compliance with the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, and assist in the development of medical staff policies and procedures related to privileging criteria, as well as other administrative functions that may arise over time.
Dr. Davis and his wife, Suzanne, moved to Warner Robins from Albany, Georgia where he has been in practice of plastic and reconstructive surgery since 1994 and also served as the CMO of Palmyra Medical Center. He and Suzanne, married for 37 years, have three daughters, Lauren, Kathryn and Anne. Dr. Davis and his family relocated to Georgia after he served as the Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Surgery of the Hand. In addition to this role, he was the Director of the Oculoplastic Surgery Service, Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Dentistry at the UNC School of Dentistry. He also completed the UNC Hospitals Management/Leadership Institute program through the Kenan Graduate School of Business.
