Charles Briscoe, FACHE, President and CEO of Houston Healthcare, Elected to Georgia Hospital Association Board of Trustees

WARNER ROBINS, GA – Houston Healthcare President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Charles Briscoe, FACHE, was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) last month. Briscoe will serve as an at-large trustee, where his duties will include working with the Board to develop strategies for GHA hospital members, advocating for the highest quality care for patients, and supporting adequate reimbursement for hospitals.

Briscoe joined Houston Healthcare in 2016 as its vice president/chief operating officer and interim CEO. He was named president and chief executive officer in January 2020 and, since joining the health system, has overseen strategy for the two-hospital system as well as provide leadership for 525 physician members across two medical staffs. He also served as a board and medical liaison for three years.

Briscoe has considerable administrative experience, having worked in a number of c-suite roles prior to joining Houston Healthcare. These include serving as CEO at Coliseum Heath System in Macon, CEO at Lake City Medical Center in Lake City, Florida, COO at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and COO at Doctors Hospital – Columbus. He most recently served as senior vice president of acute care services at Community Health Services of Georgia in Macon, where he provided regional leadership of the 90-bed Northridge Medical Center in Commerce as well as statewide leadership for Community Ambulance Service, which provides emergency and non-emergency services to 10 counties.

Briscoe is a board member and past chairman of United Way of Central Georgia. He also serves on the boards of Middle Georgia State University Foundation, Central Georgia Technical College, Robins Air Force Base 21st Century Partnership, and the Community Foundation of Central Georgia. He received the Regents Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2013. Briscoe earned a Master of Health Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Georgia.
