Houston Healthcare Receives $10,000 Donation

Warner Robins, GA -- Georgia Association of Physicians of Indian Heritage (GAPI) recently donated $10,000 to Houston Healthcare to be used for mammograms for indigent patients. GAPI has held charitable functions for breast, colon, and ovarian cancer awareness. Patients must be referred by a physician and qualify for a free mammogram screening.

GAPI was formed in 1989 with just a few members and now has grown to 1,000 members. Educational meetings are organized quarterly and held in different parts throughout Georgia. The March meeting was held in Warner Robins at the Cary W. Martin Conference Center at the Houston Health Pavilion.

A volunteer clinic has been run by GAPI in The Global Mall in Atlanta for many years and follows many patients for chronic diseases and also serves acute problems. Each year, GAPI gives five $1,000 student awards and two Humanitarian awards. GAPI physicians also help during disasters by providing medical care and financial assistance.
