How to Apply

We accept applications only through ERAS. The program name is Houston Healthcare System, and the program number is 2130120C0.

Please note:

• We do not accept phone calls, nor do we take applications via email or fax
• We do not sponsor Visas
• Six PGY-1 positions are available
• Interviews are scheduled from September through the middle of January. No interviews are scheduled during the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's Day.

Completed ERAS Application Materials

The Common ERAS Application includes 3 letters of recommendation written within the past year by U.S. Physicians you have worked with clinically. Letters must be written on the physician's letterhead stationery, and letters written on plain paper will not be accepted.

Your application should include your:

• COMLEX/USMLE transcript
• Medical school transcript
• Personal statement explaining why you want to practice family medicine and your interest in a residency program in Georgia
• Headshot, passport-type photo taken within the past 6 months
• Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) (formerly "Dean's Letter")
• ECFMG Certificate, if applicable

Criteria for Application

To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

• Graduation from medical school within the past 2 years
• Two months minimum of clinical rotations in the United States within the last 2 years precepted by a licensed allopathic or osteopathic physician
• Clinical Rotations must include independent and direct:
  • Contact with patients
  • History taking
  • Physical examinations
  • Development of differential diagnoses
  • Identification of relevant clinical findings
  • Problem assessments
  • Formulation of management plans

Observerships or Externships will not be accepted.

The program looks at your application as a whole, but especially your commitment to family medicine, as well as your interest in residency and practicing in Georgia. It is not accepted or declined just by your board scores.
