Director of Operations

Mr. Stephen Machen joined Houston Healthcare as the Director of Operations in June 2010. Prior to joining our team, he was the managing partner of Machen & Associates, LLC, a healthcare management and consulting firm. Mr. Machen also worked for Sumter Regional Hospital, and during his tenure there served in several management positions – most recently as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Before joining Sumter Regional Hospital, Mr. Machen held the position of Assistant Administrator of Clinical and Support Services at AMI Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin, Georgia and Administrative Director of Clinical Services at AMI Hamilton Medical Center, Hamilton, Alabama. 

Mr. Machen received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology from the University of Missouri and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology from the University of Missouri. He completed his Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas. Mr. Machen is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and presently holds a Georgia Nursing Home Administrator license and is a licensed Medical Technologist.
