Houston County Volunteer Medical Clinic Selected As United Way Partner Agency
The Houston County Volunteer Medical Clinic, Inc., has been selected as a partner agency of the United Way of Central Georgia based on its mission, purpose and operational objectives. The Clinic will be included in all aspects of United Way’s 2006 Campaign and eligible for participation in the FY 08 Fund Distribution process.
“We are pleased to be a partner agency of United Way,” said Jack Steed, Chairman of the Volunteer Medical Clinic. “Having the support of our area’s United Way will greatly enhance our mission to serve the needs of working adults who are uninsured with a goal of improving the overall health of our community.”
Staffed by volunteer physicians, nurses and healthcare professionals, the Volunteer Medical Clinic opened in January 2005 as the first and only clinic in the county to serve the primary care needs of the working uninsured. To date, the Clinic has enabled more than 300 adults who live and work in Houston County to receive regular medical care and improve their health status.
“The United Way is in the business of community impact…improving lives by mobilizing communities to create sustained changes in quality of life. The Houston County Volunteer Medical Clinic’s mission fits well within the United Way’s priorities,” stated Dr. Anthony Alford, Chairman of the United Way of Central Georgia Board of Trustees. “We look forward to this partnership which will improve the health of many people in Houston County.”
