Perry Hospital Awarded Joint Commmission Accreditation
By demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization’s national standards for health care quality and safety, Perry Hospital has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval. Houston Medical Center also earned the Gold Seal of Approval following their accreditation survey in July 2006.
“We seek accreditation for Perry Hospital and all of our facilities because we want to demonstrate our commitment to patient safety and quality care,” says Dr. Tony Alford, CEO of Houston Healthcare. “We view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation and the validation of our compliance with the National Patient Safety Goals as another step toward achieving excellence.”
“Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic and organization-wide improvement in an organization’s performance and the outcomes of care,” says Kurt Patton, executive director, Hospital Accreditation Program of the Joint Commission. “The community should be proud that Perry Hospital is focusing on the most challenging goal – to continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels.”
The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 hospitals and healthcare organizations in the United States. An independent, not-for-profit organization, the Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare.
Following the recent Joint Commission accreditation survey, Perry Hospital also completed a successful survey with the Georgia Department of Health & Human Resources earlier this month.
“I am very proud of the employees of Perry Hospital. They work hard every day and have a sincere dedication to quality healthcare. Their efforts were recognized by both of the inspection teams,” said Lora Davis, Perry Hospital Administrator.
