New ShiftRewardsª Module to Provide Staff Incentives
San Diego-based BidShift, the leading provider of web-based flexible workforce management technology for healthcare providers, has implemented its online open shift scheduling system at Columbus Regional Healthcare System of Columbus, Georgia and Houston Healthcare of Warner Robins, Georgia to provide an automated approach for filling open shifts.
BidShift’s innovative staffing effectiveness technology transforms what traditionally has been a time and labor intensive manual process and reduces reliance on expensive contract labor. The web-based software is recommended to VHA Georgia member hospitals to help attract and retain qualified staff and deliver cost-effective, quality patient care.

Nursing staff use the technology to log on from work or home, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to identify available shifts and make online requests for shifts that match their skills, experience and lifestyle interests. The hospitals are implementing BidShift as a means to leverage the existing resource pool, give staff more choice and flexibility over the shifts they work, drive employee satisfaction and retention, and provide a competitive advantage for the recruitment of qualified staff.
Columbus Regional Healthcare has implemented a new module called “ShiftRewards” as an incentive for hard to fill shifts. Staff users receive points each time they use the BidShift system, which can be redeemed for rewards such as movie tickets, gift cards, and iPods. Staff can earn premium points if they work holidays or other hard to fill shifts. Staff can also earn points for non-BidShift activities including perfect attendance and customer service recognition. ShiftRewards automates tracking and can be incorporated into existing reward and recognition programs that support staff retention.
