Houston Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program Graduates Class of 2023 Residents

Houston Healthcare’s Family Medicine Residency Program celebrated the graduation of its Class of 2023 residents with a commencement ceremony on Friday, June 23 at the Cary W. Martin Conference Center in Warner Robins.

  • Monica Gifford, MD, graduated from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Kitts and is headed to New Hampshire where she will be practicing outpatient medicine at Core Physicians. Dr. Gifford was also awarded Resident of the Year by the Family Medicine Residency Program faculty.
  • Andrew Gubler, MD, is a graduate of Trinity School of Medicine and will be returning to his home state of Utah, where he will be practicing outpatient medicine for Wade Family Medicine in Bountiful, Utah.
  • Abdul Majeed Hussain, MD, graduated from Ross University School of Medicine and will be practicing as a hospitalist at Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, Georgia.
  • Nazira Mojadidi, MD, graduated from Ross University School of Medicine. She will return to her home state of California where she will complete a fellowship program in Pain Management.
  • Christopher Orlando, MD, is a graduate of Xavier University School of Medicine and will be heading to Jacksonville, Florida where he will practice Emergency Medicine after joining the Emergency Resources Group which covers the Baptist Hospital system there.
  • Stephen Tobin, MD, Dr. Tobin graduated from Trinity School of Medicine and will be going to North Carolina where he will practice inpatient medicine at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.
  • Lindsay Watson, MD, graduated from Trinity School of Medicine and will be starting her new adventure as a nocturnist at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Each year, the graduating class of resident physicians selects an inpatient and outpatient Preceptor of the Year from the medical staff at Houston Healthcare. This year, Ravi Shekarappa, MD, internal medicine physician and part-time faculty member for the Residency Program, was selected as the Inpatient Preceptor of the Year, and Uwa Iguobadia, MD, chief of Houston Healthcare’s Pediatric Department, was selected as the Outpatient Preceptor of the Year.

Houston Healthcare’s Family Medicine Residency Program is coordinated through the Pavilion Family Medicine Center located in the Roy H. “Sonny” Watson Health Pavilion in Warner Robins. The program benefits the community by including access to care for patients, providing clinical training and practical skills learning for the Residents, and affording enhanced coordinated care with the local teaching facility of Houston Healthcare – Warner Robins.
