PURPOSE

The Authority is organized and exists under the provisions of the Georgia Hospital Authorities Law. The Authority has the ultimate responsibility and authority for all activities of Houston Healthcare. The overall purpose of the authority is to formulate hospital policies to guide the administrative decision-making process. The primary functions of the authority are to provide leadership for effective organization, stewardship of the hospital resources, representation to the external environment, quality assurance and articulation of the community needs and attitudes.

MEMBERSHIP

The business activities of the Hospital Authority are managed and conducted by a board of nine (9) voting members. This board operates under the bylaws established by the Authority. Members are appointed by the Houston County Board of Commissioners for staggered four-year terms. The Chiefs of Staff from each hospital's medical staff are full members of the Hospital Authority. The present members of the Hospital Authority of Houston County and the year in which their term expires are as follows:
