Houston Heart Institute
Houston Heart Institute (HHI) offers inpatient and outpatient services dedicated to the detection and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. HHI also provides a wide variety of emergency cardiac services. Inpatient cardiac procedures are performed in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, while outpatient cardiac services are provided in the Cardiology department at Houston Medical Center.
When you only have 90 minutes, it's good to be close to home.
Houston Heart Institute expanded its services in 2011 to include interventional cardiac procedures, such as coronary stents and angioplasty, bringing advanced lifesaving heart care closer to home for Houston County and our surrounding communities. In addition to treating STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction) heart attacks, these new procedures are performed in the cardiac catheterization lab.
Interventional cardiac procedures, such as stents and angioplasty, are used to open blocked heart arteries in individuals suffering a heart attack, particularly a high-risk STEMI heart attack, which is caused by a sudden complete blockage of one of the heart's arteries. For anyone experiencing a STEMI heart attack, the immediate goal is to restore blood supply to the affected area of the heart within 90 minutes of the first sign of chest pain, as recommended by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.
With over 165 combined years of diagnostic and interventional cardiac experience, our team is well trained to care for you and take pride in knowing we are healing hearts in our community.
Health Connections is also a part of the Houston Heart Institute and offers a full-service cardiac rehabilitation program on the campus of Houston Medical Center.
