Treatments for Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)


The treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD) involves many lifestyle changes. These changes are to minimize the harmful influences of the diseases that contribute to this condition— hyperlipidemia , diabetes , hypertension , and obesity . Medications can be effective to relieve symptoms, but they usually do not slow disease progression. Surgery and invasive procedures can improve more advanced stages of the disease.
